Rather late but thought it would be good to start a thread on Easter magic that will be handy each time Easter season arrives.
First of all - here's wishing you all a blessed Easter.
What are some of the Easter effects that you have found helpful? I'll start the ball rolling with two.
1. "He is Risen" - a Dock Haley effect I think. Need to look it up.
It's a flat gimmick - thick cardboard cards, material and large envelope.
Easy to handle. Very visual. Clear and simple Easter message. I have used it twice and it gets the message through - even had many loud audible and visible gasps.
2. Resurrection effect based on the children's magic effect - with the folded colored papers where you out in money, fold it up and then when unfolded money is gone or changed ... I think it was / is even marketed by Penguin under some strange name "Buddha money making .... something or other" (Can't recall)
Easy and very cheap to make. Really small packet and while not very visual if the crowd is big, it has a big impact if handled well as angles are no problem and it you let your chosen spectator handle it at the last stages it plays big as it is magic in their hands. I have done this a few times before and it also gets a lot of loud gasps as the handling is very clean to the lay audience.
Clear message as I have "Jesus" put in the tomb, sealed up etc and then on Easter when the tombstone is removed, He is gone (resurrected). As it is a simple effect, you need to make sure you have a good patter so that the story is exciting and each move makes good sense as part of the storyline. _________________ "If a person is not watching it, it is not magic!" - Tim Ellis |
