Surprised Howdy! Greetings from Indianapolis! During my time here at Indiana, I had the opportunity to visit an Inter City Youth Center. This center is basically designed to create an environment for students to hang out playing basketball, pool and video games, therefore keeping them out of trouble. Good News Center (the youth center) is managed by a Christian Organization, wherein students are served lunch, given tutoring classes in their school work, free time and then Bible study. During my visit, I’ve noticed that majority of the students there were African Americans, with majority of them what we call “Streetballers.” (Talented street basketball players) Their strong cliques and accent made it hard for me to even strike up a conversation. 1st week : I manage to get to know some names, and also talked to some of the kids 2nd week: I got to know some of the youth whom were playing video games and got to know more kids. 3rd week: I decided to get “into” them. With some “weapons” at hand, my sponge balls, some coins and a smile *grin*. Because of the strong cliques therefore I knew all I had to get was one person as my “victim” and the others would just follow. “All for one and one for all” True enough I went over to one of them on the bench; split my sponge balls from one to two. The reaction? In African American accent “Yo! Wassup dee? Do that again!” He then yells for the others to come. Soon enough I had a small crowd as I move on with my sponge ball routine. Now they were asking for more, as I did my coin routine. As soon as I finished both these effects, I was already one of them. By this time surrounded with high fives, smiles and laughter. Seeing that I’ve gotten all their attention, I ended my routine with the effect entitled “ticket to heaven”, therefore sharing something I ever could at first. The effects I’ve shown were nothing special, which proves it wasn’t me but the power of magic to open people up. The things I’ve learn such as making a proper routine, scripting, poses, presentation and different tones of speech certainly made the effect stronger, causing a hunger for more magic. Therefore friends never underestimate the power of magic on people. A question we often ask at the Magic Annexe is “what is your reason for performing magic?” Well I do hope you do include this one reason that is having the ability to brighten someone’s day and to bring smiles and joy to the people around us. Lastly, quoting SOMEONE I truly appreciate for passing all this knowledge I have “The Magic is just for You!” Wink Jonathan Lee Indianapolis Training Center

A lil' sidetrack for a moment...

Your signature quote by J.Dunninger reminds of my favourite St Anselm of Canterbury's quote.

"For I do not seek to understand in order to believe, but I believe in order to understand. For I believe this: unless I believe, I will not understand."
